Dimensional lettering means individual cut letters and logos, mounted with real depth so they cast shadows and catch light. They look solid and permanent in a way flat graphics can't. Marv'les Signs has installed dimensional letters on building facades, bank lobbies, reception walls, retail showrooms and office buildings. Like all our work, they're installed by our own crew.
Where dimensional letters work best
- Building facades: large raised letters across the front of a building or above a storefront. Clean, architectural, and a strong alternative to a sign panel.
- Lobby and reception walls: your logo behind the front desk is the first thing visitors see, and it sets the tone for the whole office.
- Showrooms and retail interiors: brand names, department names and feature walls.
- Office buildings and medical offices: building names, tenant names and suite identification.
- Monument signs: raised letters added to a brick or stone base for a custom, built-in look.
Materials and finishes
The right material depends on whether the letters are going indoors or out, how big they are and the look you want. Common options for dimensional letters include:
- Acrylic: crisp edges and glossy or matte colors. Popular for lobby logos.
- PVC or foam board: lightweight and cost-effective, and good for large interior letters. It can be painted any color.
- Metal and metal-look finishes: brushed, polished or painted metal for a premium, corporate look, inside or out.
- Painted finishes: letters can be painted to match your exact brand colors.
We'll suggest a material and thickness based on where the letters go and how they'll be seen.
Mounting options
How letters are mounted changes the look as much as the letters themselves:
- Flush mount: letters sit tight to the wall for a clean, built-in appearance.
- Stud mount with spacers: letters stand off the wall by a small gap. This creates a shadow line that adds depth.
- Standoffs and backer panels: letters mounted on a panel, which is handy on uneven surfaces like brick or stone, or for tenants who don't want to drill into the wall.
Getting spacing and alignment right matters. A logo that's an inch off-level is obvious on a big blank wall. Because we do all our own installations, our own crew handles the layout on the wall and the mounting.
Interior signs for offices and businesses
Beyond the main logo, most businesses need practical signage inside: room and suite names, directional signs, door lettering, hours on the entrance glass, and wall graphics with your mission statement or services. Matching these to your exterior sign and lobby logo makes the whole space feel planned and professional. If you're fitting out a new office, store or clinic, tell us everything you need and we'll quote it as one project.
Tips before you order
- Measure the wall and take a straight-on photo, so we can plan the size and placement.
- Send your logo in the best format you have (vector files such as AI, EPS, PDF or SVG are ideal).
- Check the wall surface: drywall, glass, brick and stone each need different mounting hardware.
- Think about lighting. A ceiling spotlight on a lobby logo makes a big difference. For letters that glow on their own, see Pylon & Illuminated Signs.
Common questions
Will installing letters damage my wall?
Most mounting methods use small holes for studs or anchors. On surfaces where drilling isn't an option, letters can be mounted on a backer panel or with other methods. Tell us about the wall and we'll talk through options.
Can dimensional letters be used outdoors?
Yes, with materials, finishes and mounting suited to the weather. Let us know whether your letters are going inside or out.
Can the letters match my brand colors?
Yes. Letters can be painted to match your brand colors, or made in materials and finishes that complement them.
