Banners & Large-Format Graphics

From a welcome banner for an event to a multi-story banner on a building under construction, for businesses across Rockland County, New York and the Tri-State Area.

Large outdoor banner on a roadside frame by Marv'les Signs

Banners are the fastest, most flexible way to get a big message in front of people. You can use one for a grand opening, an event, a sale or a building that's leasing. The Marv'les Signs portfolio ranges from roadside and storefront banners to oversized building banners that cover several stories of a project under construction.

Banners we provide

  • Storefront and grand-opening banners: "Now Open," "Coming Soon" and temporary signs while your permanent sign is being made.
  • Sale and promotional banners for seasonal events and specials.
  • Event and welcome banners for schools, community events, dinners and celebrations.
  • Holiday banners for businesses, banks and plazas.
  • Construction, real estate and leasing banners: large banners on fences, scaffolding and buildings announcing new developments, leasing information and contractors.

Choosing the right banner

Vinyl vs. mesh

Standard vinyl banners are solid, bright and work for most uses, indoors or out. For large banners on fences, scaffolding or building sides, mesh banner material is often the better choice. Tiny perforations let wind pass through, which reduces stress on the banner and its mounting. Graphics still read clearly from a distance.

Size for the distance

The same rule that applies to signs applies to banners. A common rule of thumb is about one inch of letter height for every 10 feet of viewing distance. A banner meant to be read across a parking lot or from a highway needs much bigger text than one hung at an entrance. Keep the message to a few words and a phone number or website.

Finishing and hanging

Banners are typically finished with hemmed edges for strength and grommets (metal eyelets) for tying or bungee-mounting. Pole pockets are another option for hanging from a pole or frame. Tell us how and where the banner will be hung, such as a fence, a wall, between two posts or on a building facade, so it can be finished correctly.

Wind

Wind is the number-one enemy of outdoor banners. Pull banners tight and secure them at every grommet. Bungee cords help absorb gusts. For very large banners, mesh material and proper mounting make a big difference.

Large-format building banners

Developers, builders and property managers use oversized banners to market projects while they're under construction. They show renderings, leasing phone numbers and the names of the team behind the project. These are big pieces that have to be planned around the structure they're mounted on. If you're considering a building or scaffold banner, call us early at (845) 426-0804 with the dimensions of the area and photos of the site.

Making banners last

  • Roll banners graphics-side out for storage. Don't fold them, because creases can crack the print.
  • Make sure they're dry before you store them, to prevent mildew.
  • Clean with mild soap and water. Avoid harsh solvents.
  • Reusable banners (yearly events, holidays) should leave out the year so they can come back next season.

Common questions

How long will an outdoor banner last?

Banners are made for outdoor use, but they're best for temporary and medium-term displays. Sun, wind and how securely the banner is mounted all affect how long it lasts. For permanent identification, a sign is the better choice.

What size banner should I order?

Measure the space where it will hang and think about how far away people will be when they read it. Tell us both and we'll suggest a size and lettering that will read clearly.

What should I send for a banner?

Your finished artwork or logo, the exact wording, the size you need, and how and where the banner will be hung.
